The Property and Casualty (P&C) Consulting Practice assists insurance companies, self-insured corporations, government entities and other organizations with all aspects of managing property and casualty insurance exposures. We guide P&C clients on their qualitative and quantification of risk and loss exposures, and offer advice on a range of issues, from external business strategy and internal risk management to economic capital modeling and new product development.
About this role
Oliver Wyman is currently seeking an experienced professional to join the Global Strategy Development team within our Property & Casualty (P&C) Actuarial Consulting Practice as the Global Sales Effectiveness and UK/Europe Business Development Leader. With a main reporting line to the Global Strategy Development Leader, this role will drive the development and implementation of a cohesive global sales effectiveness strategy and support the development and implementation of a regional business development approach for the P&C UK and Europe Region. The successful candidate will significantly impact engagement and interaction with Oliver Wyman’s clients, including large, self-insured corporations, captive insurance companies, (re)insurers, investment firms, state regulators, and carriers.
The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following.
- Create, drive, implement, and manage the global sales effectiveness strategy.
- Craft and deliver trainings to develop colleagues’ sales skills and enhance effectiveness.
- Build and drive a client feedback loop to receive and apply learnings.
- Track and respond to pipeline and conversion metrics.
- Develop and implement a framework for pitch development and delivery.
- Support colleagues in pitch meetings as needed.
- Develop the business development plan for the P&C UK/Europe Region.
- Work in partnership with the P&C UK/Europe P&C Region Leader to develop and implement the regional business development plan, focused on large pursuits.
- Supervise business development collaboration with senior managers and Principals while establishing and maintaining knowledge of business development-related engagements across the P&C Practice (e.g., pipeline, marketing content, expertise, etc.)
- Identify any gaps in the current business development strategy and implement strategies for improvement.
- Work with the Global Strategy Development team to create and deliver content for monthly updates of business development activity by region, keeping the business leaders updated on activity.
- Support colleagues in leveraging full complement of offerings to bring added value to clients.
- Mentor assigned staff, fostering career and professional growth.
Qualifications and Skills
- Demonstrated ability to develop relationships with clients and colleagues.
- 10+ years of consulting experience, with a focus on Property and Casualty clients, including self-insureds, captives, and (re)insurers, preferred.
- Deep knowledge of the property and casualty industry, with the ability to identify trends, implement best practices, and ensure compliance with regional regulatory requirements.
- Exceptional business acumen, with proven ability to create and successfully execute strategic business plans, manage financial performance, and drive business development initiatives.
- Proven record of leading and managing teams with the ability to inspire and mentor staff and contribute to the overall development and growth of the practice.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to foster a culture of inclusiveness, innovation, and continuous improvement within the practice and across the broader organization.
- Willingness to travel as needed to support client engagements and business development activities.
- Self-motivated, self-directed, and proactive with a demonstrated ability to develop client-oriented solutions.
- Collaborative team player capable of working effectively in a cross-functional environment.
