Base pay range$120,000.00/yr – $125,000.00/yr Position Summary The Director of Finance at Lathrop Community, Inc. oversees the organization\’s financial operations, reporting directly to the CEO. Responsibilities include maintaining financial records, preparing budgets and multi-year projections, providing reports to the Board, leadership, and auditors, and ensuring compliance with policies and regulations. The Director also promotes financial literacy among department managers, communicates financial information to residents, and fosters collaboration across the organization and with The Kendal Corporation (TKC). The role involves strategic planning as a member of the senior leadership team. Essential Functions Financial Planning and Management:Analyzes and monitors the financial position, provides timely information for decision-making, reports to the CEO, Finance Committee, and Board, and collaborates with auditors and TKC’s Director for Finance. Develops budgets, financial modeling, forecasting, and establishes metrics for performance measurement, initiating corrective actions as needed. Business Operations:Supervises the Business Manager, oversees accounts payable/receivable and payroll, reviews payroll calculations, taxes, and information returns, and serves as backup payroll processor as needed. Capital Structure:Manages funding acquisitions like loans or bonds, ensuring compliance with loan documents and disclosure requirements. Controls and Safeguards:Evaluates and improves operating systems, develops policies and controls to protect assets, monitors compliance, and maintains insurance coverage. Audit:Ensures timely financial audits, works with the Audit Committee, and files tax and information returns accurately and on time. Communication:Communicates financial information clearly to the Board, senior team, and residents, presenting budgets and reports effectively. Leadership and Strategic Planning:Participates in senior leadership, contributing to organizational growth, operational efficiency, and strategic initiatives. Collaborates with TKC and other senior leaders. Relationships:Fosters strong relationships with residents, the Board, staff, and stakeholders, ensuring open communication and responsiveness to needs. The CFO supports financial planning, mentors staff, and engages with the broader Kendal system. They also maintain relationships with residents, the Board, and key stakeholders, ensuring effective communication across all levels. Compliance:Adheres to Lathrop’s Compliance Program and Policies, reviews the Code of Conduct annually, and stays informed on employment laws including ADA, ERISA, EEO, FLSA, FMLA, OSHA. Other Skills and Qualities:Maintains discretion and confidentiality, provides excellent customer service, demonstrates interpersonal skills, sound judgment, motivation, attention to quality, safety awareness, dependability, initiative, and punctuality. Education and Experience A bachelor’s degree is required; a master’s degree, CPA, or experience in a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) are preferred. The candidate should have strong analytical skills, accuracy, effective supervision, excellent communication, self-motivation, and proficiency with financial systems, spreadsheets, and IT oversight.
