Job Description

Salary: £50,000 per annum – Spot Grade
Location: St Johns House, 155-163 The Rock, Bury BL9 0ND.
Contract: Permanent
Hours: Full time

The Diocese of Manchester is the Church of England in Bolton, Bury, Leigh, Manchester, Oldham, Rochdale, Salford, and parts of Rossendale, Stockport, Tameside and Trafford.

We are seeking a Principal Building Surveyor to join our Land and Property Services team. The successful candidate will assist the Director with co-ordinating and managing the work of the Property Team in connection with the properties owned or administered by the Manchester Diocesan Board of Finance. The post holder will also assist in managing the workload of the Property Team which comprises the Senior Surveyor, the Diocesan Buildings Officer, the Apprentice Building Surveyor and the Property Support Administrator.

The post holder will be experienced in undertaking property surveys and have strong written and verbal communication skills to enable them to work with a diverse community of clergy, lay members, and public organisations. The post holder should have experience of managing a property portfolio with a working understanding of the legal framework including Health & Safety and statutory regulations. The post holder will be RICS chartered and should be willing to learn various Church Measures (laws) and be effective in prioritising and managing their time and projects to meet deadlines.

Although experience of working within the Church of England is not required, the post holder should be sympathetic to the aims and values of the Church.
