A new vacancy has become available with an established organisation in Pontypool for an Assistant Accountant. Available on a fixed term contract of 12 months which may be extended. The primary function of the role is to deliver accurate financial reporting and support strategic decisions through robust analysis and forecasting. Reporting to the Head of Finance, this is an autonomous role therefore applicants will be self-motivated.
Assistant Accountant duties:
- Involved in the annual budget process, ensuring timely and accurate deliverables.
- Prepare monthly management accounts, including variance analysis and insightful commentary.
- Update financial forecasts and provide analysis.
- Prepare year-end financial statements in accordance with relevant standards.
- Update and manage cashflows, accounting and reporting.
- Preparation and presentation of reports for the Board.
- Provide financial advice and forecasting support to the management team.
- Preparation and submission of VAT returns.
- Coordination with external advisors for the preparation of year-end corporation tax computations.
- Intercompany journals and invoicing and consolidation journals.
Assistant Accountant person specification:
- Demonstrable experience in a similar role.
- Able to produce accurate, timely financial reports and interpret data to support decision-making.
- Clear and concise communication of financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
- Must be able to prioritise and organise own time and workload effectively.
