We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join a well-established engineering team delivering bespoke systems for high-integrity applications. Based in Berkshire, this is an exciting opportunity to take a technical lead on post-order project activities — from design and calculation through to documentation and customer engagement.

You will be working on complex mechanical systems, primarily pressure vessels, ensuring all design work meets both technical requirements and industry standards, including ASME and PED. In addition to hands-on engineering tasks, you will also support the Engineering Manager in allocating and tracking project tasks across the team.

Required Experience and Skills:
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent experience)
  • Strong background in pressure vessel design, with extensive experience using AutoCAD and Inventor for both 2D and 3D work
  • Well-versed in applying industry codes such as ASME VIII Div 1 & 2, PD5500, PED, and ASME B31.3
  • Solid understanding of structural calculations and producing technical documentation
  • Confident using SAP and Microsoft Office tools
  • Must hold a UK passport (due to security clearance requirements on government contracts)
Desirable Experience:
  • Familiarity with pressure vessel design tools such as PV Elite or CodeCalc
  • Experience using ANSYS for Finite Element Analysis
  • Knowledge of Autodesk Vault for managing drawing configuration
  • Exposure to EN13445 and additional pressure vessel standards
  • Prior involvement in team leadership or mentoring within an engineering environment
