Job Description
Purpose: to assist Wasserman’s business divisions with day-to-day legal and business affairs matters. You will work in a small legal team assisting primarily with Athlete Talent division Corporate operations. You will be responsible for corporate and commercial tasks such as agent negotiations, acquisitions, strategic transactions and company secretarial work in the Athlete Talent and from time to time Music teams.
Reporting: the position will report directly into the Associate General Counsel (Talent, Corporate and Music, EMEA) and VP, Legal, both based in London.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
- Drafting and negotiating a broad range of contracts, including senior employment agreements, consultancy agreements, service agreements, partnership agreements, commercial leases, powers of attorney, confidentiality agreements, and joint venture agreements.
- Providing assistance and support with acquisitions by Wasserman. This will involve taking instruction from team members, assistance with drafting documents such as bid letters, carrying out/reviewing due diligence and instructing external counsel.
- Providing assistance with contractual disputes and debt collection.
- Taking ownership of administrative, company secretarial, data protection and filing requirements in EMEA for the Athlete Talent division and updating precedent documents. Monitoring and ensuring compliance (including Anti-Bribery, AML and GDPR).
- Supporting legal business needs of subsidiaries in and across EMEA, including continental Europe, the Middle East and Asia-Pacific.
- Where required, drafting and negotiating a range of agreements for athlete management services, including athlete talent representation agreements.
THE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE YOU NEED
- 0-2 years PQE, ideally with some in-house experience (including secondments).
- Experience in Commercial, Corporate and Employment law.
- Excellent listening skills, team player and ability to take instruction from and work effectively with legal team members and business units.
- Ability to take ownership of matters whilst able to receive the appropriate level of guidance.
- Ability to think on your feet in a commercial manner.
- Ability to manage a diverse workload sometimes to tight deadlines.
- Experience of working on M&A transactions would be beneficial.
- Flexibility to liaise with the US offices and colleagues.
- Ability to communicate with and explain legal concepts to commercial and creative people within the business.
- Excellent technical ability, responsiveness and good attention to detail.
