Overview: We’re hiring a Lead Developer / Tech Lead for a high-impact role at a growing UK-based energy technology company. This team is building core systems that help reduce energy costs for businesses and consumers alike - with automation and clean, modern engineering at the heart of their mission. This is a hands-on leadership role - you’ll be the go-to technical authority for your team, working closely with architects and fellow tech leads. There’s no line management involved, but you’ll mentor engineers, help shape technical direction, and ensure smooth delivery across the board.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Leading the design and delivery of backend features and services using C# (.NET 4.8 and .NET 8)
  • Collaborating on solution and low-level design with architects
  • Supporting engineers through coaching, mentoring, and pair programming
  • Helping to decompose legacy systems into clean, scalable microservices
  • Guiding the team toward sprint goals and high-quality technical outcomes
  • Working closely with product and delivery to ship value, not just code

Tech Stack:

  • C# / .NET 4.8 and .NET 8
  • MySQL
  • AWS (preferred) / Azure
  • AngularJS (being modernised – React exposure is a bonus)
  • Terraform, Azure DevOps (nice to have)
  • Postgres (dotted across the estate)

What We’re Looking For:

  • Strong experience with .NET and backend engineering
  • Comfortable designing systems and breaking down complex tech into team-level delivery
  • Hands-on experience with monolith-to-microservice transitions
  • Experience mentoring mid/senior engineers
  • A collaborative, delivery-focused mindset
  • Familiarity with modern cloud infrastructure (especially AWS)

Perks & Setup:

  • Remote-first working with flexible hours
  • Occasional in-person days (expensed)
  • Private healthcare
  • 5% pension
  • Purpose-led engineering culture with room to influence
