Acre has partnered with a leading consultancy specialising in biodiversity, who works with business and financial institutions to integrate nature into sustainability strategy and practice. For nearly 20 years they have guided clients across sectors and around the world to respond to biodiversity- and nature-related risks and create new ways of working which deliver business value and safeguard our natural environment.

The team are purpose-driven biodiversity and sustainability experts, trusted by household names, financial institutions, governments, and leading NGOs to deliver strategic guidance and deep technical expertise. They are looking to hire their next Senior Principal Consultant.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring timely delivery of on-budget projects to the requisite level of quality and technical substance.
  • Working with environmental and Social Due Diligence of large, complex projects across mining, infrastructure, and agriculture sectors.
  • Undertaking assessments to identify portfolio-level risks, impacts and dependencies on nature and preparation of strategies to mitigate risks and optimise opportunities.
  • Developing strategic and innovative proposals of work with new or existing clients.
  • Expanding the business through networking and relationship building with global business forums, academia, NGOs etc.
  • Line managing of junior consultant(s), mentoring, and supporting their professional development.

The purpose of this role is to work with leading mining companies, industry organisations and finance institutions in the integration of nature into business decision-making. You will be playing a crucial part in shaping the future of nature sustainability for the mining sector. The role will also involve working across a broader range of sectors including linear infrastructure, ports and agriculture through the application of lender safeguards, notably the International Finance Corporation's Performance Standard 6.

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • Experience in applying lender requirements, particularly International Finance Corporation's Performance Standard 6, to development projects in emerging economies in extractives, and/or agribusiness sectors.
  • Experience in managing and delivering multiple complex projects.
  • Sufficient GIS skills to design and evaluate analyses with our GIS team.
  • Willingness and enthusiasm to travel for work globally.
  • Good track record of business development and client relationship management.
