There is an exciting opportunity to join Bellway, one of the UKs largest house builders. Our Essex Division is looking to recruit an Engineering Manager to join the Divisions Technical team.

The Role

The Engineering Manager will be responsible for the day to day running and management of the engineering discipline within the division, supporting the senior management team as and when required.

Principle accountabilities of the role include:

  • Develop a close working relationship with the regional team, ensuring all information is communicated effectively and efficiently, including developing others working within the engineering section and providing support and coaching where required.
  • Assist with Land Appraisals and work with the Land Department to ensure smooth transition of engineering information takes place.
  • Assist the Technical Director to obtain fee quotations from specialist consultants for all geotechnical, engineering design and technical report requirements.
  • Assist the Commercial team in cost plan completion with regard to engineering matters.
  • Provide provisional assessment of abnormal design requirements and review technical information and provide value engineering solutions.
  • Complete, approve and formalise the details of all adoption agreements including Section Agreement, Adoption Management and progress of the adoption of roads, sewers, and public open space areas.
  • Pursue the reduction and release of outstanding Bonds at the earliest opportunity.
  • Ensure that new regulation requirements are anticipated and incorporated as required.
  • Work with the Central Design team to develop engineering products and research build systems to ensure we are ready for legislation and market change.
  • Understand, implement and adhere to HSS policy and strategy and ensure that all staff reporting to you do the same.

Experience, Qualifications and Skills

Experience

  • Experience working as an engineering manager / senior engineer.
  • Experience working in a volume house builder with AutoCAD experience is desirable.

Qualifications and Training

  • Qualified to degree level or HNC/HND in a Construction / Engineering subject with relevant experience.
  • CSCS card or equivalent.
  • Current full UK driving licence.

  • Strong communication, listening, presentation skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to express technical information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Methodical, conscientious, organised and works to deliver high standards.
  • Ability to recognise problems and deal with them in a speedy and effective manner.
