Development Director - Large-Scale / Mixed-Use

We are working with a FTSE 250 real estate business known for delivering some of the UK’s most ambitious, sustainable and design-led developments to help them find a Development Director. This employee would be supporting the Head of Development in creating and co-ordinating the developments that help to deliver their strategy to be a leading operator of some major commercial mixed-use sites.

We are looking for a development lead who has a demonstrable track record in the financial performance, design, planning and delivery of development projects with particular experience of dealing with local authorities, third-party stakeholders such as TFL / Network Rail across projects of scale of at least c.£0.5bn.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead front-end development management: masterplanning, appraisals, design, and procurement
• Collaborate with leasing, asset management, and investment teams to align schemes with commercial goals
• Coordinate planning strategy, ESG integration, stakeholder engagement, and cost/programme control
• Support site acquisitions, feasibility studies, due diligence, and JV structuring.
• Represent the business at events, panels, and in the market

Ideal Profile:

• Strong UK development experience (particularly RIBA stages 0-3) across planning, design, and delivery of large-scale commercial urban projects
• Broad and large-scale commercial experience, including life science, retail and offices
• Commercial, strategic, and collaborative mindset with leadership capability and stakeholder management skills. Strong focus on financial reporting
• Confident managing multiple complex schemes and reporting to boards/JV partners
• Can either be an established Development Director or a Senior DM looking for the next step up
