The predicted salary is between 36000 - 60000 £ per year.

Working as part of the development team, the Development Technologist is responsible for developing innovative textile solutions for our customers. The successful candidate will manage medium- to large- size development projects. The work will involve understanding customer requirements, designing technical textiles, planning and supervising the development trials and reporting trial outcomes internally and to customers.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To work as part of the Development Team on the development of new products and product variants as requested by customers or internally identified as offering commercial benefit to the Company.
  • To liaise with customers and suppliers as required to ensure the Company maintains its position as a market leader and innovator in the field of advanced composites. Support customer and supplier visits as necessary.
  • Create project plans and keep them up to date.
  • Liaise with purchasing/planning/manufacturing to successfully deliver trial material, on time, with minimum disruption to production schedule.
  • Keep records of time (labour) spent on various project/customer developments.
  • Develop new carbon fibre processing techniques, liaise with machine builders to specify and manufacture pilot lines.
  • To work with Production to improve existing processes and technologies to maximise manufacturing output whilst maintaining maximum quality level.
  • Manage large New Product Introduction and Level 0 company projects.
  • Identify and make new product development or innovation proposals.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

  • Minimum degree level education in a related science or engineering subject (textiles, polymers or material science preferred).
  • Extensive experience in the design and development of textiles or composite materials.
  • Knowledge of carbon fibre processing is desirable.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Experience with CAD is desirable.
  • Extended knowledge of textile and composites testing.
  • Hands on.
  • Positive attitude and energy to obtain results.
  • Ability to work self-sufficiently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent Problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to maintain a tidy and safe working environment.
  • Demonstrate behaviour in line with our company values.
