Overall Responsibility

We are currently looking for a Junior Fish Buyer to join us at our purchasing team based in Swindon. You will effectively and commercially manage fish, fish related and sundry products Procurement and Sales. Set profitable fish trading in line with the Companys policy and budget constraints.

The Position:As Fish Buyer you will be involved in a multitude of tasks which will include, but are not limited to:

Develop and maintain an ongoing strategy of sourcing fish

Maintain adequate levels of fish related stock at each distribution centre and in outside cold storage to meet the Companys requirements

The production and issuing of weekly fish price lists to maximise selling and margin opportunities.

Come up with promotions and marketing initiatives in liaison with the company Marketing Manager.

Sales and Margin targets are to be set for the internal and external sales teams in conjunction with the Company Sales Manager.

Make direct contact with major customer, as necessary

Regular meetings and visits with and to fish suppliers and markets to ensure the Company has a wide market knowledge of potential fish supplies.

Develop and maintain an effective level of communication with the Sales staff on stock availability, particularly in relation to contract pricing and negotiable margins and ranges.

Maintain and review the Companys filing system of supplier contracts, pricing and margin sheets etc.

Maintaining of an effective system of stock, cost and pricing controls.

Maintaining an effective system to add new codes, maintain purchase order records, handle credit notes etc.

On a regular basis ensure a review of fish stocks to clear slow moving and damaged goods take place and nominate stocks that are to be dealt with.

Develop and maintain an effective system for the internal control of stock transfers in conjunction with the Purchasing and Operations Departments.

Mange relationships with new suppliers whilst understanding market trends and fads.

Any other general duties required within the grading of this position.

The Person

Procurement experience ideally within the fish industry or fresh food sector

A successful track record of B2B partnership

Strong communication skills

Familiarity with Microsoft Office packages
