As a leading logistics partner for premium fashion brands including SKIMS, Patagonia, Karl Lagerfeld, and Stussy, Bleckmann is seeking a Last mile delivery Manager (Carrier Manager) to strengthen and scale our global carrier strategy. With a group revenue approaching €1 billion and a transport budget of €200 million, the company’s focus is firmly on profitable growth. The Carrier Manager will report directly to the Transport Director and serve as a key member of the Transport Management Team. This role carries end-to-end responsibility for managing €140 million in annual spend across a diverse carrier portfolio of over 60 partners. The role combines strategic planning, negotiation, operational excellence, and cross-functional leadership, while progressively building out a dedicated carrier team.
Activities
- Carrier Strategy & Leadership: Develop and execute a scalable carrier strategy aligned with Bleckmann’s global transport objectives. Serve on the Transport Management Team, contributing to long-term planning and budget setting. Build and lead a high-performing carrier management team.
- Spend Management & Negotiation: Manage €140M in annual carrier spend. Lead rate negotiations with Procurement and Finance to achieve optimal cost-service balance. Present final agreements and decisions to the ExCo.
- Carrier Relationship & Performance Management: Lead Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) across all carriers, attending top 10 personally. Define, track, and improve SLAs and KPIs in collaboration with operational teams.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Linehaul Manager to optimize the linehaul network. Work with Onboarding and IT teams to drive technical integration (EDI/API). Coordinate with Sales/HoT on incentive structures that increase carrier leverage.
- Budget Oversight & Analysis: Work with Finance to track transport costs, forecast spend, and report variances. Support data-driven decision-making through carrier performance and cost analytics.
Requirements
- Experience & Education: Minimum 5 years of experience in carrier management, transport procurement, or logistics strategy. Proven track record managing large-scale transport budgets and vendor portfolios. Bachelor's degree or equivalent, Master's is a plus.
- Core Competencies: Strategic negotiation and vendor management. Strong financial acumen and budgeting capabilities. Process improvement and service-level optimization. Experience working with leading parcel and freight carriers in Europe and/or globally is a plus.
- Leadership & Personal Skills: Team leader with the ability to inspire and develop others. Confident communicator able to operate at Executive Committee level. Structured and analytical, yet pragmatic and solution-oriented. Hands-on mentality with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Communication & Languages: Fluent in English; proficiency in Dutch or other European languages is a plus. Skilled in reporting, business case development, and executive presentations is a plus.
