Are you an experienced engineering leader ready to take on a pivotal role within our Worksop site? We're looking for a passionate and strategic Site Engineering Manager to join our senior leadership team and drive our engineering agenda forward.
About the Role
Reporting to the Factory General Manager, you will be instrumental in setting and delivering the site's engineering strategy. You'll lead and empower our Manufacturing and Facilities engineering teams to continuously enhance the availability and reliability of all equipment, ensuring safe and cost-effective production.
What You'll Be Doing
- Leadership & Strategy
- Collaborate with the Senior Project Engineering Manager to define and execute our site engineering strategy.
- Develop and implement a 5-year proactive maintenance strategy aligned with our master plan and site vision.
- Drive the implementation of world-class engineering excellence in partnership with the Central Engineering Excellence team.
- Operational Excellence
- Ensure a safe working environment for all site personnel, maintaining compliance with engineering specifications, EHS policies, and current legislation.
- Uphold exceptional standards of quality, food safety, hygiene, and housekeeping across all four centers.
- Manage the engineering financial budget, controlling costs, overheads, and overtime, while leading energy and utilities minimization programs.
- Monitor and utilize KPIs to deliver operational and engineering excellence, embedding these within your teams.
- Manage the asset register and asset disposal process.
- Team Development & Culture
- Oversee the training, development, and performance management of all engineering colleagues, fostering progression and skill growth.
- Mentor and coach engineers, promoting a consistently excellent line management experience.
- Set team objectives aligned with engineering and site strategies.
- Foster a positive employee relations culture, supporting change processes and encouraging feedback.
- Ensure clear and effective communication across the Engineering department and with other functions within the wider group.
- Cultivate an engaging environment where colleagues are empowered to reach their full potential.
- Continuous Improvement
- Establish a continuous improvement culture within engineering to sustain gains.
- Identify opportunities for equipment upgrades and replacements, coordinating capital requests with the central engineering team.
- Contribute to the specification and selection of new equipment, incorporating modern and innovative thinking.
- Stay abreast of advancements in FMCG automation through trade fairs and exhibitions.
- "Think Big" about future site improvements related to automation.
What We're Looking For
- Essential Skills & Experience
- BEng Degree (Mechanical, Electrical, or Manufacturing) or BEngTech / HCEng / City and Guilds (Mechanical, Electrical, or Manufacturing).
- Proven experience in an FMCG engineering management position.
- Demonstrated ability to manage a team of 50+ individuals.
- Strong leadership and change management skills, with proven experience in a trade union environment.
- A proven track record of improving production equipment availability levels.
- In-depth knowledge and understanding of modern maintenance practices.
- Strong financial acumen, including basic financial awareness, understanding of business drivers, and budgeting processes.
- Ability to analyse data and identify trends.
- Desirable Qualifications
- NEBOSH qualification.
- Prince 2 or other project management qualification.
- Formal Continuous Improvement qualification (e.g., Six Sigma Black Belt).
