Role Description:

We are seeking a skilled Technical Project Manager with a solid background in hardware engineering to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will drive the successful delivery of cutting-edge hardware initiatives, coordinating cross-functional teams and leveraging your technical expertise to ensure project objectives are met efficiently and effectively.
As a Technical Project Manager, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the development and execution of hardware projects, from initial planning through to final deployment. Your responsibilities will encompass project scoping, cross-functional team alignment, scheduling, risk management, and stakeholder communication.
This position requires a deep understanding of hardware development processes, including electronic and mechanical design, prototyping, testing methodologies, market compliance and manufacturing. The ideal candidate will excel in navigating complex technical challenges, fostering collaboration among diverse teams, and maintaining a keen focus on project timelines and deliverables.

Required skills / Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience in hardware design, development, and manufacturing processes
- Up to 3yrs experience of project managing complex hardware projects from initiation to completion; with prior experience of 5+ years in similar engineering environments, potentially filling different roles
- Proficiency in project planning, resource allocation, risk management, and budget control with relevant experience using industry standard software tools such as MS Project, JIRA, Confluence and collaboration tools such as SharePoint
- Proficiency in agile project management methodologies, such as Scrum or Kanban would be beneficial.
- Ability to adapt to changing project requirements and priorities in a fast-paced environment and toggle between strategic planning and operational delivery
- Ability to engage technically to have a good understanding of challenges facing the R&D team
- Project Management qualification/membership (Prince2/MAPM) would be beneficial
Responsibilities:
Project Planning and Management
- Develop comprehensive project plans, including scope, objectives, timelines, budgets, and resource allocation, to ensure successful project delivery.
- Define project milestones and deliverables in collaboration with cross-functional teams, including engineering, manufacturing, and testing.
- Monitor project progress, identifying and mitigating risks and ensuring alignment with R&D goals and organizational strategy.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Coordinate and communicate with engineering, design, procurement, and manufacturing teams to ensure hardware development aligns with technical and operational requirements.
- Serve as the primary point of contact between R&D teams, stakeholders, and senior leadership.
- Facilitate effective collaboration with external suppliers, vendors, and contractors.
Technical Oversight
- Ensure hardware design, prototyping, and testing phases are executed according to technical specifications and compliance standards.
- Support technical teams in resolving challenges and removing roadblocks during the R&D cycle.
- Monitor hardware development KPIs and ensure deliverables meet quality standards.
Budget and Resource Management
- Manage project budgets, track expenses, and ensure cost-effective utilization of resources.
- Allocate and schedule human, material, and technological resources to meet project demands.
Risk Management
- Identify potential risks or bottlenecks in hardware development processes and proactively implement mitigation strategies.
- Conduct regular risk assessments and adjust project plans as needed to address emerging challenges.
Stakeholder Communication
- Report project status, progress, and performance metrics to senior leadership and stakeholders through regular updates and presentations.
- Manage expectations by providing clear communication about project timelines, risks, and changes in scope.
Process Improvement
- Drive continuous improvement in project management processes within the R&D environment.
- Ensure adherence to industry standards, regulatory compliance, and internal policies in all hardware development activities.
Leadership and Team Development
- Lead and motivate cross-functional project teams, fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to team members, promoting professional growth within the organization.
