Our clients based close to Portsmouth have an exciting opportunity for a CNC Sliding Head Programmer, Setter, Operator to join their growing team.
The Role
We are seeking a skilled and experienced CNC Sliding Head Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in programming, setting, and operating CNC sliding head lathes.
Key Responsibilities
- Program, set, and operate CNC sliding head machines
- Write and edit CNC programs using Fanuc controls
- Carry out part inspection using standard measuring equipment (micrometers, verniers, gauges, etc.)
- Ensure components are produced to tight tolerances and quality standards
- Perform regular machine maintenance and troubleshooting
- Collaborate with the team and assist in training less experienced staff
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Extensive experience with CNC sliding head lathes (Star or similar)
- Proficient in programming and editing using Fanuc controls
- Able to interpret technical drawings and engineering documentation
- Skilled in using precision measuring instruments
- Strong attention to detail and quality-driven
- Willingness to share knowledge and mentor junior staff
