Due to continued growth and an expanding workload, we are recruiting on behalf of one of our Tier 1 clients for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their team on a multi-billion-pound rail infrastructure upgrade in the southern region. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a high-profile rail project, working for a leading contractor with a strong pipeline of future works.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide accurate monthly accounting, costing, and financial reporting for inclusion in monthly accounts packages.
- Work closely with Project Managers to brief on specifications, BoQs, and contractual implications.
- Monitor and manage costs against contract/tender agreements, highlighting any commercial risks or concerns to the Commercial Manager.
- Engage with clients on cost updates, variations, authorisations, and claims—ensuring contractual compliance.
- Assist in tender preparation, pricing strategies, and developing charging structures.
- Lead procurement activities to ensure best value from subcontractors and suppliers.
- Produce precise calculations, measurements, and commercial documentation.
- Prepare and deliver monthly performance reports and KPIs.
- Set and manage departmental budgets in collaboration with senior leadership and finance teams.
- Manage and motivate a team, setting objectives, reviewing performance, and supporting development.
- Ensure clear, effective communication channels within the department and across the wider organisation.
- Comply with and uphold all health, safety, and environmental standards and procedures.
- Take reasonable care for your own health and safety and that of others.
- Cooperate with health and safety directives and legal requirements.
- Ensure your team complies with all HSE obligations and is appropriately trained and competent.
- Report any HSE risks, incidents, or near misses promptly to your manager.
Experience required:
- Previous experience working with Tier 1 or Tier 2 contractors.
- Proven background in civil engineering, infrastructure, or rail projects.
- Demonstrated line management experience, with a track record of leading and developing commercial teams (1-2 people).
