About the Role
Our Nursery Practitioner supports the educational and social development of children up to age five. Key duties include ensuring a safe learning environment, helping children develop social and behavioral skills, and engaging them in age-appropriate play. Tops Wimborne Nursery is an 80 place Day Nursery & Pre-School situated in Leigh Road, Wimborne. The nursery runs several extra-curricular activities including Tops Forest School, cooking school, Boogie Mites, yoga, meditation and much more!

What the role involves
Providing day-to-day care, including feeding, changing diapers, and helping children with toilet training. You will ensure a safe, clean, and stimulating environment. You will develop and lead fun, age-appropriate activities that promote learning and development, focusing on social, emotional, physical, and cognitive skills. You will observe children’s development and identify any areas of concern, helping children develop motor skills, language, and social interactions through play and structured learning. You will ensure that children are safe and emotionally supported, creating an atmosphere that encourages independent exploration. You will keep records of each child’s progress, including milestones, behaviors, and developmental needs, in line with the EYFS framework. You will maintain regular communication with parents or guardians about their child’s progress, needs, and any concerns that arise.
What are we looking for?
A minimum of a Level 2 Early Years Qualification is required. A strong understanding of safeguarding procedures is essential.

Because this role involves regulated activity with children, all candidates must:
- Hold (or be willing to obtain) an enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service. If you don’t yet have one, you’ll need to cover the cost.
- Be eligible to work in regulated roles—not on the Children’s Barred List.
- Successfully complete background and reference checks.
