Position Summary

Arch Capital Services is actively seeking an experienced Director of Network Engineering. The director, utilizing a strong technical background, oversees a tight-knit team to deliver network services to our internal Arch Capital customers and its external business partners, lenders and regulatory agencies. The incumbent operates independently and with senior management on complex assignments involving the analysis and implementation of both business and regulatory technology requirements to maximize benefits to the business.

The Director manages service initiatives through the entire product lifecycle. This role will oversee team workload, performance, risk and identify resource needs to ensure high levels of quality, performance, availability, and security. The Director of Network Services will review existing and new solutions, with direct report and peers, and approve adjustments to meet business objectives. The individual will act as the team and senior leadership point of contact. Travel up to 15% may be required based on business need.

Essential Role and Responsibilities

  1. Adhere to Arch Managed Infrastructure Services Priority Guidelines
  2. Manage and actively participate in the resolution of service-related outages and security events
  3. Adherence to and improve standard governance, operational guidelines, and production support SLA’s
  4. Ownership of network related SOW for business acquisitions, disaster recovering exercises and audit and compliance artifacts and findings
  5. Review, schedule, approve, and represent network related changes to the change board.
  6. Manage and meet Initiative commitments
  7. Collaborate with internal and external Service Delivery Managers, Domain Owners, and partners in the specification of and delivery of our product roadmap
  8. Establish and maintain our partnerships with vendors and suppliers to maintain and mature our services portfolio and engineers; develop a budget, training plans, RASCI and RBAC models, adhere to EULAs, service and licensing changes, capacity and health forecasting, propose new and maximize our return of investment
  9. Review and approve specifications, designs, and other technical documentation prepared by engineers and Enterprise Architects
  10. Plan and direct the work of the network engineers, developing timely solutions to designated objectives
  11. Develop and maintain an effective engineering team; mentor existing team members and effectively recruit and select new hires to efficiently deliver goals while building individual career development goals
  12. Manage staff, in the UK, US and Philippines, to deliver quality services through training, performance management, and recognition
  13. Prepare and maintain initiative and resource schedules; monitor progress of initiatives, confer with engineers, and review reports to see that work is progressing according to schedule, cost estimates, and guidelines

Experience & Education

  1. 12+ years of related experience
  2. Experience managing global network engineering across a follow the sun model, inside a publicly traded company with Non-Public Information
  3. Excellent interpersonal, motivational, collaboration, and customer service skills
  4. Solution oriented approach
  5. Strong verbal communication skills
  6. Strong experience creating a Network Infrastructure roadmap and deployment plan
  7. Strong experience with the development and application of highly specialized and theoretical best practice methods and techniques
  8. Capable of adapting to a constantly changing environment
  9. Experience with Agile methodologies
  10. Required knowledge and skills typically acquired through a bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field
  11. Experience managing related services in OnPrem, Hybrid and Public Cloud environments (Azure and AWS)
  12. Layer 1-3 Routing & Switching, Identity Services and Access Controls, Layer 7 Firewalling, Wireless, Systems of Audit and Monitoring
  13. Industry specific training and/or designations are a plus
