Our Performing Arts Section delivers UAL courses in Drama, Dance and Music across levels 1, 2, 3 and 4. The department has a professional standard studio theatre equipped with theatre lighting and sound equipment, two purpose built dance studios and a music department with state of the art recording studios and two Mac Labs.

We are seeking to appoint a Technician on a full time, term time only basis, with experience in overseeing both Theatre and Music to join our vibrant performing arts department. Working alongside students, the role will involve rigging and operating lighting and sound for music, acting and dance performances, using an Allen and Heath QU-24 sound mixer and an FLX S48 lighting controller. Throughout the year, you will be responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of all music equipment and facilities, adhering to Health and Safety regulations and best practice. You would also guide students in the use of technology and support our broad performance programme.

You will be able to demonstrate:

  • A relevant qualification (or extensive training and experience within the industry)
  • Up to date working knowledge of theatre lighting, sound, music technology, recording techniques and current software
  • Experience of rigging and operating lighting and sound for performances at industry level
  • Experience of prop making and set building, including safe use of tools and carpentry skills
  • Experience of working with Macs and Logic Pro X
  • Experience of instrument maintenance and repair
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work with young people in a creative environment

We are extremely busy at various points of the year, so flexibility and vigilance are key characteristics for the successful applicant. All our shows include evening performances.
