The Role
Are you ready to lead the design process for innovative refurbishment and fit-out projects? Willmott Dixon Interiors is seeking a talented Design Manager to join our dynamic team and support our expanding portfolio across diverse sectors.
As a Design Manager, you will oversee the design phase of high-profile projects. Your expertise will ensure compliance with industry standards while driving value and innovation. Key responsibilities include:
Project Leadership: Manage the design process, collaborating with architects, engineers, and customers to meet project objectives and deadlines.
Innovative Solutions: Deliver cost-effective, creative technical solutions that enhance project value and sustainability.
Technical Excellence: Provide technical expertise, evaluate design options, and resolve issues to ensure seamless project delivery.
Monitoring and Reporting: Chair design team meetings, track progress against design programme, and implement action plans to ensure timely delivery.
Team Collaboration: Mentor and guide team members and share your experience promoting a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
What We’re Looking For
Experience: Demonstrated track record as a Design Manager (or similar as Architect or Architectural Technician) ideally within the refurbishment and fit-out sector, preferably managing projects valued between 5-30 million and managing complex, multi-disciplinary teams.
Expertise: Proficient in interpreting drawings, technical specifications, building regulations.
Qualifications: Minimum level 4 qualification (ONC/NVQ4) or equivalent. Construction-related degree and MCIOB desirable.
Mindset: Positive, adaptable, and driven to deliver risk-free, innovative design solutions.
Communication: Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with all stakeholders including customers.
Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with statutory and regulatory requirements relevant to construction design.
Attention to Detail: Ability to interpret detailed information and check that it meets specifications and cost plans.
