Job Description
We are seeking an exceptional Director of International Engagement to drive our global strategy and enhance the University’s international reach and reputation.
As a senior leader in our Marketing & External Relations Directorate, you will shape and lead the development, delivery, and continuous refinement of the University’s international strategy, ensuring it reflects institutional priorities, anticipates global trends, and drives long-term impact. You will provide authoritative direction on internationalisation policy, positioning the University as a forward-looking, globally connected institution. In this high-profile role, reporting directly to the Executive Director of Marketing & External Relations, you will influence decisions at the highest levels of the University and provide inspirational leadership to our international partnerships and global mobility teams.
Role Requirements:
- Lead the development and delivery of the University’s international strategy ensuring alignment with our strategic ambitions and global higher education trends.
- Build and steward high-value global partnerships and programmes that enhance our international profile and reputation.
- Provide strategic advice to senior leaders and represent the University at high-level international engagements, building a connected global network of institutional partners, alumni, and stakeholders.
- Support transnational education (TNE) activity, ensuring compliance, quality assurance, and long-term sustainability across our international portfolio.
- Champion global student and staff mobility through impactful partnerships and externally funded programmes like Turing and Erasmus+ successors.
- Collaborate with recruitment, marketing, and alumni teams to align global strategies, reputation-building, and market engagement efforts.
- Contribute to our performance in international ranking frameworks and enhance global visibility of the University of Greenwich.
- You will bring a strong track record of leading international strategy in a higher education setting, with significant experience in building successful international partnerships, managing global risk, and working across cultures.
- You will have the agility to work within a complex environment, influence at the highest levels, and deliver tangible outcomes that enhance institutional impact.
This is a flexible role with a hybrid working pattern. While international travel is a core part of the role, you will also be expected to work across all our campuses as needed to support university-wide engagement. Your weekly working pattern can be shaped in line with business needs and your personal circumstances, combining on-site presence with remote working.
