Here at Brockenhurst College, we are looking to recruit a Hospitality and Catering Technician (Stores) on a term time only, permanent basis. In return, you will receive a competitive salary of £23,556 per annum pro rata. We are a high-achieving college who attract around 2,800 sixth form students across the region each year. We are based within the stunning New Forest National Park and offer our students a huge range of courses and superb facilities.
The Role: As our Hospitality and Catering Technician, you will undertake a range of duties in support of the academic and operational function of MJ's.
Responsibilities as our Hospitality and Catering Technician will include:
- Collecting and collating food orders prepared by lecturers.
- Issuing and receiving equipment, materials, and foodstuffs to and from students and lecturers including associated paperwork.
- Receiving, unpacking, and checking supplies for quality and quantity and process all documentation pertaining to these; being responsible for packing and dispatch of defective goods.
- Complete monthly procurement card transactions and forward to Curriculum Leader.
- Ordering foodstuffs and commodities from suppliers as directed by lecturers and if necessary, contacting suppliers over queries and obtaining quotations.
- Ability to utilise IT systems including Excel and online ordering systems.
- Preparing and weighing up materials and foodstuffs for tests and class work.
- Costing order sheets upon completion of all classes and prepare transfer where approx.
- Undertaking stock control of consumable items and carrying out annual Stock Check of stores.
- Arranging the sale of cooked items prepared in practical classes and maintain appropriate records.
- Assist with outside events as required.
- Ensure kitchen, restaurant and public areas are kept up to Environmental Health Standards of cleanliness through the management of ancillary staff.
- Ensure that department financial procedures are in line with financial regulations.
- Liaise with auditors both internal and external.
- Manage the food hygiene and safety system and keep appropriate records and liaise with EHO's.
- Keeping fridges and storeroom tidy and ensure stores rotation and security of store.
- Simple maintenance, fault finding, repair and servicing of machines, equipment and tools and where necessary arranging repair via the Site Office and Estates department.
- The maintenance of a register for COSHH and staff training.
As our Hospitality and Catering Technician, you'll ideally have:
- Good level of literacy and numeracy required.
- Previous experience in this type of role.
- Knowledge of store systems.
- The ability to communicate with students and staff effectively.
- The ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines.
- IT literate.
