We have one of the largest specialist wayfinding design teams in the UK. Our team works across all sectors and environment types, providing clients with an eclectic mix of wayfinding design and strategy services. We work on the development of many high profile and market leading wayfinding systems, covering the full end-to-end wayfinding design process in-house including high level scheme strategies, signposting and sign placement strategies, graphic design and product design.

As part of our continued growth, we have a vacancy for a Senior Wayfinding Consultant within our Transportation team located in central London, focussed on providing wayfinding design across a broad range of projects and environment types, including airports, rail stations, towns & cities, schools & universities, retail areas and office spaces. Our current projects include the development of wayfinding strategy and design for the Barbican Estate, Legible London schemes across the capital, Avanti West Coast station, South Gloucestershire Council and commercial office hubs for the UK government. Our team works across our global business and therefore contribute to projects at a national and international scale for many government bodies and the private sector.

Your purpose: The successful candidate will be someone with an ability and desire to take ownership of the management and technical delivery of our wayfinding projects, with support from our team. The role would also include developing commercial proposals and helping to drive growth in our wayfinding business going forward. This role in an expanding team offers the opportunity for both career progression and wider professional development support.

As a member of a dynamic, but close-knit team, you will:

  • Be able to exercise sound judgements, sometimes whilst under pressure of project deadlines, with a problem-solving mindset.
  • Demonstrate good management skills, with regard to communicating with Clients and the technical delivery of wayfinding projects.
  • Have sound commercial knowledge and skills in order to assist in the preparation of bids and marketing materials.
  • Have good organisational skills and the ability to communicate effectively with others.
  • Adopt best practice and adhere to the AtkinsRéalis quality processes in technical delivery on projects.
  • Have enthusiasm to develop your career and progress as a wayfinding consultant.

What you can bring: Applicants will be expected to demonstrate experience and capability in the following:

  • Experience in developing and delivering wayfinding strategy and design tasks for clients.
  • Expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Design Suite, including Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop.
  • Demonstrable project and people management skills.
  • Appreciation and delivery of pedestrian movement and information strategies across various environments.
  • Excellent communication with strong report writing capability.
  • Ability to work under pressure and proven success of working to time and budget constraints.
  • Confident team worker with ability to work independently.

Desirable:

  • Degree in Graphic Design, Information Design or another related subject.
  • Experience in business development and work winning i.e. developing methodologies and costing for proposals.
