Right Now Group are currently looking for a Freight case maker to train in export packaging, working for one of the market-leaders in this niche industry. This is a Permanent opportunity working in the London Heathrow Airport area and would be a perfect opportunity for an experienced candidate.

Duties and responsibilities of a Freight case maker:

  • Construct export cases using materials such as wood, plywood, metal, or plastic, based on customer requirements and shipping specifications.
  • Customise cases according to the size, weight, fragility, and nature of the goods being transported, ensuring proper protection during transit.
  • Accurately measure and cut materials to appropriate dimensions using saws, drills, and other woodworking tools.
  • Assemble case components securely, including sidewalls, base, lid, hinges, locks, and handles, ensuring structural integrity and stability.
  • Reinforce cases with internal cushioning, padding, or shock-absorbing materials to protect delicate items from damage.
  • Inspect finished cases for defects, irregularities, and compliance with quality standards before packaging and shipment.
  • Collecting freight in company vehicle.
  • Composing and replying to customer emails when required.

The successful Freight case maker will have:

  • Hands-on character, with an interest in construction tasks involving woodwork, power tools and packaging construction.
  • Willingness to use hand tools.
  • Experienced with Dangerous goods Packing.
  • Physical fitness and ability to lift, carry, and move heavy objects repeatedly, as well as stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in performing tasks.
  • IT literate.
  • Full UK driving licence (will be required to use company pick up truck to collect freight).
  • Clear DBS and full 5 year checkable history.
