A senior practitioner in contentious trusts and probate is sought to lead an established team of two Solicitors. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 6 years' PQE and may already be operating at Partner level or be a Senior Associate ready to step up, either immediately or in the near future. An attractive package is on offer, with flexibility regarding location across any of the firm's three offices, as well as hybrid working options for the right individual.

The contentious probate team benefits from strong support from a highly regarded and well-connected private client department. It sits within the wider litigation group, which includes two Partners, three Senior Associates, a Solicitor, a paralegal, and a trainee. The litigation team is known for its involvement in high-profile, nationally reported cases and has a strong reputation for high-quality work.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Handling a wide range of contentious trusts and probate matters, including will validity disputes, claims under the Inheritance Act, and breach of trust claims.
  • Advising clients including beneficiaries, executors, trustees, and high-net-worth individuals on complex estate and trust disputes.
  • Representing clients in court proceedings, mediations, and other forms of dispute resolution.
  • Drafting legal documents including pleadings, witness statements, and settlement agreements.
  • Leading and developing the contentious probate team, supervising junior Solicitors and support staff.
  • Collaborating with the wider litigation and private client teams to deliver a seamless client service.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with referrers and professional intermediaries.
  • Playing an active role in business development and contributing to the strategic direction of the team.
  • Staying up to date with legal developments and ensuring compliance with regulatory obligations.
