Children’s Residential Support Worker - ASAP Start

Location: Kirkham

Contract: Temporary - Approx. 6-8 Weeks (Potential for Extension)

Rate: £13.50-£15.00 per hour (Dependent on Experience)

P4 Recruitment are currently working in partnership with a well-established Residential Childcare Provider to recruit an experienced and compassionate Children’s Residential Support Worker for a short-term assignment in Kirkham. This is an immediate start role supporting children and young people with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) in a nurturing, structured residential setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote and actively safeguard the welfare of children and young people, reporting any concerns promptly and appropriately.
  • Assist in the implementation of care and placement plans, contributing to reviews, reports, and day-to-day planning.
  • Engage with children displaying challenging behaviours, using de-escalation and behaviour management strategies in line with care plans.
  • Support young people in developing life skills and making safe, informed choices about relationships, environments, and situations.
  • Maintain accurate, timely and clear records, ensuring effective communication and smooth handovers between shifts.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team and support the running of the home through domestic and personal care duties as required.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 1 year’s experience working in a children’s residential care setting.
  • In-date Enhanced DBS (on the Update Service or issued within the last 12 months).
  • Availability to start immediately.
  • Excellent communication, empathy and resilience in challenging situations.
  • Desirable: Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
