A leading automotive retail group is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Dealership Accountant to oversee financial operations across one or more dealerships. This role is ideal for a proactive and commercially aware finance professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is keen to play a pivotal role in driving business performance.

About the Role:

As Dealership Accountant, you will be responsible for producing accurate and timely financial and management accounts, supporting operational leaders with strategic insight, and ensuring robust financial controls across all functions. You'll work closely with department managers to monitor performance, implement efficiencies, and support commercial decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare monthly management accounts, budgets, and forecasts for the dealership
  • Analyse variances between actual results, budgets, and forecasts, providing insightful commentary
  • Reconcile balance sheets and manage working capital effectively
  • Ensure accurate reporting of sales, costs, stock, and manufacturer bonuses
  • Oversee accounts receivable, payable, and payroll processes in collaboration with central finance
  • Ensure all financial procedures comply with internal controls and external audit requirements
  • Act as a business partner to the management team, providing financial guidance to improve profitability
  • Support year-end processes, audits, and tax filings as required

About You:

  • Previous experience in a similar role within the motor trade is essential
  • AAT qualified or part-/fully-qualified (CIMA/ACCA/ACA) desirable
  • Strong understanding of automotive financial processes, including vehicle margin reporting and manufacturer rebates
  • Proficient in using Dealer Management Systems (e.g., Kerridge, Pinnacle) and Excel
  • Commercially astute, with strong communication and analytical skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities
  • High level of integrity and attention to detail
