A great opportunity for an Environmental Officer to join a globally-recognised brand in Chemical Manufacturing and Engineering. This role offers an attractive salary of £45,000 - £50,000 p/a and a range of benefits including generous pension contributions, flexible working hours, and performance-based bonuses.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the comprehensive management of environmental compliance, energy efficiency, and sustainability initiatives for the site. This includes overseeing waste management, energy reporting, environmental permitting, packaging compliance, emissions monitoring, and contributing to the site's overall health and safety performance.
What you’ll do:
- Maintain accurate records of waste generation, disposal, and recycling activities.
- Manage site energy spreadsheets and records, tracking consumption and identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Lead the ISO 50001 energy management system, ensuring its effective implementation and maintenance.
- Conduct internal audits of management systems and legal compliance.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for the Environment Agency (EA) inspector.
- Prepare and submit all required reports to the EA.
- Ensure compliance with all environmental permit conditions.
- Process and report data on all packaging brought into the UK market.
What you bring:
- Strong knowledge of environmental regulations including waste management, permitting, and reporting requirements.
- Experience with ISO 14001 management systems (exposure to ISO 50001 would be a bonus!)
- Proficiency in data analysis and reporting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, in particular with external bodies.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience working in a regulated or hazardous environment (chemical manufacturing, nuclear or oil & gas would be beneficial).
- NEBOSH or IOSH certification is ideal but not essential.
