The Job Holder will be employed within the stores complex, responsible for the physical movement of stores and electronic accounting/completion of paperwork associated with consignments. The logistics department is a dynamic environment, and the Job Holder will be required to work flexibly in all areas of the business depending on priorities to ensure business continuity.
Tasks could involve support within clothing store, armoury, field store or magazine and R&D as required. The job holder will be required to work across all sub departments and where necessary:
- Qualify as All Arms Dangerous Goods Consignor (AADGC) (Air, Surface);
- Qualify as Workplace Supervisor (Radioactive Materials).
This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.
Job Description:
- Assist in daily movement, issue and receipt of equipment.
- Prepare weapons and ancillary equipment for issue in accordance with the training programme.
- Complete Dangerous Good paperwork as required.
- Carry out loading and unloading of all stores and freight in accordance with current legislation including handling of Radioactive materials.
- Use of Forklift Truck and other manual handling equipment and manual handling techniques.
- Take all appropriate accounting actions on the MoD Supply Chain Management Software, Management of Joint Defence Inventory (MJDI).
- Maintain the equipment held on account to ensure serviceability and cleanliness.
- Provide support to other area of the logistics department, or conduct any other tasks commensurate with the grade, as required by the line manager or Unit Logistics Officer.
Person specification:
We seek workplace integrity with the successful candidate being required to work both independently and as part of a team on a frequent basis. We are looking for an individual who can work independently and manage their own workload, prioritising and reassessing tasks as received is a key skill. The job will involve the lifting and physical movement of stores and equipment.
Previous experience in a logistics/store keeping role and forklift licence would be beneficial. Competent in the use of Office365.
