The role involves carrying out inspections of equipment at substation sites and ensuring sites are cleared of vegetation to allow access to the site and equipment at all times. This covers both distribution substations (11kV) and primary substations (33kV) across the South East area. You will own the inspections round and be responsible for the quality and efficiency of inspections and clearance across those substations. The information you collate will be accurate to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and documented in accordance with required standards, methods and procedures. You will identify potential faults with the distribution network and follow the escalation process to get resources to site while being committed to working safely at all times. This is predominantly a lone working role, and you must be self-motivated and driven to meet tight deadlines where you will identify and implement innovative and effective business improvements.

You will need:

  • An understanding of the ESQC Regulations.
  • The ability to risk assess activities throughout your working day and to work within Health and Safety guidelines.
  • Basic IT skills to collect inspection data on a hand-held device as well as using Office 365 applications, such as Outlook and Excel.
  • The ability to work flexibly to meet business requirements.
  • Excellent customer service, organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • A basic level of fitness, as this role is physically demanding and involves the use of power tools such as hedge cutters and brush cutters, as well as other hand-held tools.

Although the role will be based in your local area, you may be required to work anywhere within the South East region to support the wider inspections team.
