We are seeking an experienced Global Competitive Intelligence Director focused on China to join our innovative Global CI Team. This role is crucial for integrating intelligence on the powerful and rapidly evolving Chinese innovation landscape into our global strategic directives.

What You Will Do

  • Deliver Strategic Competitive Landscapes of China innovation that will inform and influence the Global Competitive Intelligence reports and the Global Strategy.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners to gather and analyze competitive insights from the Chinese market, informing AstraZeneca’s global strategy.
  • Identify and assess key Chinese innovations, assets, and emerging biotech firms.
  • Conduct research, analyze data and derive actionable insights and recommendations that are shared across the TA and with senior leaders to drive high quality, evidence-driven strategic decisions.
  • Responsible for proactively flagging key trigger events in the competitive landscape and driving work on potential implications for AZ.
  • Develop and communicate robust data-driven insights to guide strategic decisions and enhance our competitive positioning, with a particular focus on identifying trends and potential opportunities within the Chinese innovation ecosystem and connecting with the R&D Strategy team.
  • Leverage a deep understanding of China's and Global's treatment pathways, healthcare systems and scientific environment to provide AstraZeneca with a comprehensive view of the assets and collaborations that will translate into Global differentiated assets.
  • Develop communication channels with Chinese and Global teams to ensure best practices and competitive insights are shared effectively across the global network.
  • Engage with key stakeholders, including Strategy and CI Chinese Team, Global and Chinese BD team, Global R&D Strategy and CI teams to align competitive intelligence initiatives with broader business objectives.

Who You Are

  • Advanced degree in Life Sciences/ Medicine, Computational biology, Informatics, Business analytics, Statistics, Operations Research, Computer Science or related field. PhD or MBA level.
  • At least 3 years of experience working with data, analysis and fact-based decision-making.
  • A critical, innovative thinker with a background in clinical/research or investment analysis.
  • Specific strategy experience.
  • In-depth understanding of clinical data, clinical trial design or regulatory frameworks.
  • Highly intellectual with excellent analytical skills and learning agility.
  • Experienced in leading cross-functional teams with ability to influence without authority.
  • A clear communicator with the ability to communicate complex issues simply.
  • Resourceful, motivated, decisive and proactive; able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-growing organization.
