The Vice President People Partnering role is responsible for setting the strategic direction for the HR People strategy with Business Leaders to underpin the wider business strategy. This role is dedicated to Corporate Functions within De Beers Group and is positioned to work collaboratively with the Band 3 and Band 4 leaders across the Corporate Functions: Finance, IM, Risk & Supply Chain, Corporate Affairs & Strategy, People, Business Development and Partnerships. This role will cover the UK, SA, Botswana, USA and Canada and partner with senior leaders to create a culture of positivity and performance, whilst acting as a catalyst for change; guiding and influencing organisational design and change management solutions. The role will serve as a key member of the BCM & Corporate People leadership team, advising on long-term workforce implications of business decisions. This role will have one direct report, a Global People Partner, based in Johannesburg. This is a maternity cover contract role for 9 months.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Partnership: Working closely with functional leaders to set, develop & implement HR strategies that closely support business objectives, leveraging analytics to drive decision-making to drive organisational performance and growth. Acting as a thought leader with senior level presence to lead and counsel on individual and team leadership and transformational changes. Responsible for the development and execution of comprehensive HR strategies that proactively support both immediate and long-term business needs/critical tasks. Serve as a key member of the HR leadership team (BCM & Corporate), providing expert advisory support to peers, stakeholders and senior management on complex HR issues and strategic decisions, acting as a trusted advisor to deliver value and positive outcomes that underpin the Origins Strategy. Leads by example through making decisions driven by industry, commercial and HR expertise. Has the ability to influence commercial decisions that impact the future success of the business.
  • Organisational Design and Development: Architects comprehensive organisational redesigns to optimise business processes and capabilities at a strategic level, continually reviewing the effectiveness of organisation health. Providing expertise to leaders on the features of an optimal org design to deliver their goals and considerations relating to location, seniority, job design, spans, layers, controls etc. Guiding leadership on how to transition from the current org design to the proposed version in a way that is compliant with relevant legislation and De Beers org design principles. Champions innovative organisational strategies and change management initiatives for competitive advantage, providing leadership and support during periods of organisational transition. Direct comprehensive workforce planning and talent management strategies to meet evolving business requirements and foster future growth.
  • Employee Relations: Sets the vision and strategy for departmental-wide employee relation policies that foster a high performance and highly engaged workforce. Serve as an expert for escalated employee’s concerns and resolving the resolution of complex employee relations issues for Senior Leaders & Executives, whilst upholding the highest standards of legal compliance and best practice. Lead mediation and conflict resolution efforts, establishing frameworks to promote a positive and productive work environment.
  • Talent Management & Development: Leading Talent Management & Development programmes, working closely with the COE to design and operationalise innovative programmes that drive talent development. In conjunction with the COE, collaborate with senior leaders to provide and communicate a framework of effective development opportunities and compelling career path options. Facilitating the performance and talent review cycles and supporting leaders with succession planning, with a focus on how we develop and support our teams globally.
  • People Data Analysis/Insights: Leads the development of data-driven HR strategies that enable sophisticated analysis to derive critical insights which and forecast departmental needs and influence business outcomes. Champions a culture of data-driven decision making, influencing strategic decisions at leadership level through communicating critical HR insights. Champion data-driven initiatives and policy enhancements, using HR practices based on reliable data and sound analysis.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s and/or Masters degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology or a related field.
  • Extensive experience of progressive leadership experience in Human Resource roles, with proven experience in a People Partnering capacity, partnering Exec level stakeholders.
  • Proven track record of implementing successful HR initiatives that have significantly contributed to business success.
  • Extensive experience of HR and advanced talent management systems.
  • Expert understanding of industry trends related to the jewellery category, market dynamics and commerciality.
  • Advanced analytical and conceptual thinking skills, comfortable managing complex business scenarios and predicting future HR needs.
  • Exceptional strategic decision-making abilities, with a proven track record of impactful outcomes.
  • Innovative thinker with a strong capability for long-term visioning and delivering end-to-end execution.
  • Deep expertise in employment law, compliance and HR best practices on a global scale.
  • Mastery of HR technology solutions, data analysis and financial acumen to drive business results.
  • Advanced skills in crafting and leading strategic initiatives with meticulous attention to detail and accuracy in business forecasting.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and leadership skills, with proven ability to inspire, lead and develop colleagues.
  • Expertise in managing complex stakeholder relationships and building consensus across diverse organisational levels.
  • Skilled in executive coaching and mentorship, enhancing leadership capabilities across the organisation.
