The Commercial, an independent pub in the centre of Easingwold, is on the lookout for a new chef to join their kitchen team. The Commercial is known locally for its great food, friendly atmosphere, and proper hospitality. With hands-on owners and a strong team spirit, it’s a down-to-earth place where staff and customers feel at home. The kitchen, led by an experienced Head Chef, serves a menu of honest, well-cooked food, from hearty pub favourites to specials with a bit of flair.

Role details

Salary: A GBP 13 to A GBP 14 per hour, depending on skills and experience
Location: Easingwold (car driver desirable)

Full-time or part-time available (Part-time hours between 16 to 28 per week)

The role involves working with a team of 14 in a local business that values its people.

Responsibilities

• Day-to-day food prep and cooking
• Supporting the Head Chef during service
• Taking responsibility for keeping the kitchen running smoothly
• Maintaining food safety and hygiene standards
• Assisting with deliveries, stock rotation, and general kitchen upkeep
• Assisting with menu prep and occasional input on specials
• Ensuring cleaning schedules and checks are completed and logged
• Bringing a positive attitude; skills can be taught, but a willingness to learn and muck in is key

Candidate profile / Qualifications

• Some previous kitchen experience is helpful, but not essential
• A calm head and the ability to work independently when needed
• Ideally some relevant qualifications (e.g. NVQ), but this isn’t a dealbreaker
• A driver would be ideal, as Easingwold has limited public transport
• Willingness to work flexibly across weekdays and weekends; the pub is open 7 days a week
• A genuine interest in food and willingness to learn from a supportive Head Chef
• Good communication and reliability and timekeeping
• A positive, can-do attitude
