We work in a national team, in the Environment and Business (E&B) directorate, helping to plan and implement plans for the Water Industry related to protecting and improving environmental water quality. This post is to support our Waste Water Flow Strategy and Flow Improvement Plan delivery.
Due to the increase in water and sewerage company flow information and the requirement of large amounts of data management and assessment, we need a new Technical Leader to use their extensive knowledge of this sector to work with our current Senior Advisors to develop tools, policies and guidance to assist operations in their compliance and enforcement work.
In addition to the technical knowledge of the wastewater sector, we also are keen to speak to candidates who have project/programme management experience and can lead a group of advisors and help them deliver key outcomes. This is an exciting time to join the team to help steer the work that the water companies do. You’ll have a range of development opportunities and appropriate training will be provided.

The team: Our Water Industry Compliance, Incidents and Enforcement Teams work closely together and use evidence, engagement and innovation to support delivery. We influence policy and secure resources for regulation of the water industry and wider water sector. We work closely with Operational Teams and other Environment & Business departments to ensure Areas have the tools and support to deliver their compliance and enforcement work effectively.
Experience/skills Required:
- Ability to work effectively with people from a variety of backgrounds and cultures and actively encourage others to consider diversity issues in their work.
- Experience understanding Flow to Full Treatment Methodologies.
- Experience of Water Industry site processes and assets.
- Experience understanding and managing complex data sets.
- Experience of answering complex technical enquiries and information requests.
- Experience of leading projects and/or Programmes from concept to embedding.
- A high level of technical understanding of water industry flow processes is desired for applicants.
You’ll have an EA Office base location; as a national role the working location is flexible/hybrid. We use smart tools to stay connected and reduce travel; some travel and overnights may be required. You’ll have an inclusive incident management objective in your development plan. We’ll help you find a role to suit your needs. Appropriate training will be given.
Interviews will be held via MS Teams in early July, roles will be offered once all interviews are complete. If you consent to being held on a reserve list, we’ll hold your details for 6 months and may offer you an alternative post.
