Specialist Court of Protection drafting role with expert-level exposure

Largely home-based role (4 days WFH) with long-term flexibility
This is a genuinely different Court of Protection opportunity for a lawyer or experienced paralegal who enjoys technical legal drafting and wants flexibility without stepping away from high-quality, complex work.
You’ll join a highly respected specialist Court of Protection practice, working alongside Directors who are all recognised Expert Witnesses in this field. The role is focused on expert witness drafting, producing detailed, technical reports and opinions, with no client-facing or fee-earning pressure. Over time, there’s real scope to progress into an Expert role yourself, or broaden into more general Court of Protection work if that’s something you’d like.
It’s a particularly strong option for someone seeking flexible working, returning from a career break, or wanting to step away from traditional caseload management while still developing long-term career progression.
Who we’re looking for
Some Court of Protection experience to understand the work and legal context
Strong legal drafting skills with excellent attention to detail
Background as: Experienced COP Paralegal or Fee Earner Solicitor with COP experience
Comfortable working independently on technical written work
Happy in a non-client-facing, drafting-led role
What you’ll be doing
Drafting expert witness reports and legal opinions in Court of Protection matters
Managing your own drafting workload independently
Working closely with senior experts to develop technical expertise
No client contact, advocacy or traditional caseload pressures
Opportunity, over time, to: Broaden into more mixed COP work if desired Progress toward Associate / Senior Associate level Train and qualify as an Expert Witness

25 days’ holiday (rising to 27 days at Associate level)
