The PwC Actuarial practice comprises over 300 partners and staff, with offices in London, Edinburgh, Manchester, Bristol and Mumbai. Our consultants focus on non-life, life, banking and non-insurance, led by a fifteen-strong partner team. We play a leading role in the 1000+ strong actuarial community in PwC worldwide and often work with specialists from other disciplines within PwC. Our team advises clients in the general insurance and non-insurance industries on business risks and regulatory updates from natural catastrophes to mortgage defaults. We develop comprehensive risk analysis and mathematical models to help organisations enhance forecasting capabilities, limit risks, and use data informatively to make better strategic business decisions. Our practice is market leading in the General Insurance space, offering access to solving major challenges for a wide range of clients, from global reinsurers to niche players.
What Your Days Will Look Like
Responsibilities
Provide advice covering solvency, economic capital, risk management, mergers and acquisitions, company restructuring and risk control, financial modelling, business planning, new legislation, and the efficiency and reliability of reporting processes.
Contribute to general insurance advice and consulting services to clients such as insurers, regulators, private equity, and related companies such as agents and administrators.
Support the Risk & Capital proposition and respond to client challenges in a changing environment, helping clients understand risks quantitatively and how this impacts capital and growth plans.
As a Manager, work as part of a team to solve complex business issues from strategy to execution; manage and deliver a wide range of concurrent actuarial and multidisciplinary assignments; interact with clients as a main point of contact; may work in multidisciplinary teams or with network firms overseas.
Take an active role in supporting the strategic management and running of the practice, e.g., developing core product areas in risk and capital or delivering training programs for graduates and staff.
Be involved in the development of junior staff through on-the-job coaching, mentoring, or study mentoring.
This Role Is For You If
Qualifications
You have a broad understanding of commonly used capital modelling, risk management techniques, and awareness of key market issues; the ability to communicate complex, technical issues to senior management clearly and concisely is essential.
Experience across our wider offering is advantageous (Catastrophe Risk; Reserving & Pricing; Deals; IFRS17; Audit), with interest in new areas (e.g., Cyber, Climate, ESG).
Experience in risk and capital modelling (model development/implementation, modelling validation) and a strong understanding of insurance risks and dependencies, or a strong desire to develop such focus.
Experience with Solvency II internal models, risk management, and capital modelling software (e.g., Igloo, ReMetrica, Tyche) and managing regulatory relationships would be advantageous.
