We are recruiting three experienced support workers to join a specialist SEND short break service providing care and meaningful engagement for children and young people with severe learning disabilities, physical disabilities, and complex needs. This is a vital, hands-on role supporting individuals through day-to-day activities both in the home and out in the community, and helping them achieve their potential in a safe and nurturing environment.
Key Requirements:
- Experience supporting individuals with SEND (including non-verbal people)
- Proficient spoken and written English
- Manual handling, First Aid, and Behaviour Management training (essential)
- Experience with basic signing (desirable)
- Commitment to providing care with dignity, empathy, and respect
- Ability to work flexibly across early morning, afternoon, and evening shifts
- A strong understanding of safeguarding, person-centred care, and positive behaviour support
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide personal care and support tailored to individual needs
- Promote communication, independence, and engagement
- Implement behaviour support strategies
- Support with mobility and safe use of equipment
- Maintain accurate records and care plans
- Collaborate with families and professionals to deliver consistent care
- Work in a therapeutic, trauma-informed, and inclusive way
