The Early Intervention in Psychosis service (EIS) is a community-based, multidisciplinary service for individuals experiencing a first episode of psychosis. This position will support the integration of research into EIS at SLaM, aiming to enhance clinical care through innovative research initiatives. The role involves supporting a new cohort study focused on streamlining routine outcome data collection for all EIS patients, pioneering the use of mobile phone apps for patient-reported symptoms, and coordinating blood sample collection for future genomic analysis and personalized medicine. The post will involve working closely with Dr. Katherine Beck, Prof. James MacCabe, and the Early Intervention Mission leadership team to develop and implement research activities. It offers opportunities to bridge clinical practice and research, gaining experience across laboratory, clinical, and project development settings, tailored to individual interests. This position is ideal for individuals seeking to gain experience in clinical research with potential career aspirations in clinical academia. While the primary focus is on achieving research objectives, there will be opportunities for clinical work to support integration between research and clinical practice. Key Responsibilities: Manage research and administrative activities within guidelines provided by senior staff. Assist in planning and designing research materials and data collection methods. Collect, analyze, and present qualitative and quantitative data from various sources. Handle day-to-day administration of the research project. Represent the research team at external meetings and seminars. Provide information to staff and participants about the study, ensuring compliance with regulations. Maintain accurate data and documentation, adhering to Good Clinical Practice (ICH-GCP) and Research Governance standards. Report on project progress and support regulatory inspections. Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and reviews. Provide clinical input for patients attending EIS, including clinical assessments, producing reports, maintaining databases, explaining treatment options, and communicating with GPs and secondary services.
