We are seeking a Traffic Engineer with experience in traffic management and road safety schemes to join our Design & Engineering team on a two-year fixed-term contract. The role involves working on projects related to the expansion of electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure within the borough, supporting our goal to have 3,000 chargers by 2030 and to encourage a 90% EV adoption rate by 2030, aligning with our ambition to become a net-zero carbon borough by 2040.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the installation of EV charging schemes on lamp columns, public highway, and estate chargers in Hackney Housing.
  • Design minor traffic engineering schemes and manage the implementation of EV sites.
  • Conduct consultations, review EV plans, and prepare traffic management orders.
  • Maintain records of projects and liaise with stakeholders.
  • Support the delivery of traffic engineering schemes, urban realm improvements, and public transport enhancements.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory and legal transportation obligations.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Post-qualification experience in Civil Engineering.
  • Minimum 1 year in Traffic Management and Road Safety Engineering schemes.
  • At least 3 years of experience as a Traffic Engineer and in Civil Engineering.
  • Excellent communication and written skills.
  • Good time and budget management skills.
