We are looking for a Professional Sports Senior Disability Claims Specialist to work in our new, state of the art office space in the Wakefield, MA headquarters location for TMHCC Specialty Group. Performance Objectives
- During the first 30 days: learn the technology (AS400 and ImageRight) systems, and overall insurance operations and types of risks insured in our office. Learn Disability policy, reinsurance relationship(s), understand reserving practices, learn to set up claims, enter claim payments, etc. Understand the roles held by inside and outside staff involved in the claims process – underwriters, accounting, compliance, outside brokers, Insureds, etc.
- By the end of the first 6 months: take ownership of the assigned claim programs and manage claim caseload. Keep key stakeholders apprised of claim developments, work with management to develop claim handling strategies on any disputed claims.
- Independently manage claims: One of the major objectives of this position is to manage disability claims independently, from first report to conclusion. In addition, this role may require assisting the Claims Dept with ad-hoc reporting and providing expertise and assistance to colleagues working on claims for other TMHCC programs.
Your Skills and Experience
- A bachelor’s degree in business administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
- Seven (7) or more years of disability or related claims experience, and/or experience reviewing medical claims for accident and health, workers compensation, or personal injury claims.
- Critical thinking skills which translate into problem solving skills.
- Willing to go the extra mile, and willing to put in the extra time as needed to succeed.
- Able to work in dynamic environment where resourcefulness, adaptability and relationship building are critical assets.
- Outstanding organizational and time management skills.
- Able to proficiently navigate Microsoft 365 and learn new systems quickly.
