We’re now looking for a passionate and forward-thinking Equine Veterinary Surgeon to join our friendly and supportive team at our Kingswells practice in Aberdeen. This is a permanent position offering a rewarding and varied caseload that reflects the diversity of our patients - from beloved family ponies to elite competition horses.

This role offers true flexibility and can be tailored to suit your clinical interests. You’ll be involved in a wide range of responsibilities, including thorough physical examinations, diagnostic workups, and developing treatment plans across a broad spectrum of equine conditions. Routine care such as vaccinations, dentistry, and ambulatory visits are part of the day-to-day, along with shared emergency and out-of-hours work. We also welcome orthopaedic, surgical, and medical referrals from surrounding practices, providing excellent opportunities for professional growth in a collaborative and well-equipped environment.

Our flexible approach to rota patterns and working hours truly tips the scale on your work-life balance. We know that everyone has demands and priorities outside of their career and we want to make it brilliantly easy for you to strike the right balance. Whether you are looking to fix or flex your work patterns, we can find the right solution for you. This is a part-time role working up to 24 hours per week. We currently work a 1:8 OOH rota, with a half day after a weeknight and a Friday off after a weekend on-call.

We have purpose-built premises including 7 stables, trot ups, a sand school, a treatment room, stocks, a knockdown box and a theatre. We have an excellent range of modern equipment, including portable DR radiography, ultrasound, shockwave, lasers, and video endoscope/gastroscope. Collaboration is key and our friendly team of 7 equine vets, 3 equine nursing assistants and 4 office staff offers the support needed to grow and learn. We like to try new things and have regular team meetings where we encourage you to share your ideas. We are a diverse team including certificate holders who can support you with your cases. We also benefit from visiting Dentistry and Orthopaedic Specialists on a regular basis. We regularly get together as a team and host client evenings where you can engage with the local equine community.

Nature enthusiasts will delight in Aberdeenshire’s stunning surroundings, with rugged coastline, pristine beaches, and rolling hills just waiting to be explored. Take a leisurely stroll along the golden sands of Balmedie Beach, or venture into the hills for a peaceful retreat. Aberdeen City is a hub of cultural diversity boasting many galleries, theatres, and museums to immerse yourself in. There is also a wealth of lovely restaurants, shopping centres and an active nightlife.

We recognise that our people are fundamental to the success of our business. Investing in our people, premises and processes is at the heart of what we do. In addition to a competitive base salary, you will benefit from:
