The post-holder will work as an engineer in MEMOβs Radiotherapy Group. Group Responsibilities The group is responsible for the Radiotherapy Department\’s Linear Accelerators, CT Scanners, and other radiotherapy equipment. They are involved in the entire lifecycle management of a wide range of radiotherapy medical equipment and provide support to other departments within the BHOC building. Job Responsibilities Carry out preventative and corrective maintenance on complex medical equipment, including HV, high energy RF, analogue and digital circuits, and water cooling systems. The linacs also contain vacuum and gas-filled components. Maintain and repair equipment used for diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of patients, ensuring safety and compliance with specifications. Work independently with complex electrical medical equipment, differentiating between technical and clinical problems, and refer issues to qualified colleagues when necessary. Participate in professional training, including manufacturer-provided technical courses, to work on various equipment. Supervision by senior staff until deemed qualified and competent. Perform acceptance, performance, and safety checks on new equipment, ensuring proper documentation and reporting new products needing technical manuals or training. Work safely with potentially fatal voltages and currents during repairs. Plan and organize servicing, calibration, and repairs by liaising with users and suppliers, prioritizing urgent requests. Conduct planned and corrective maintenance, functional testing, calibration, and quality control on medical devices using manufacturer manuals and circuit diagrams. Maintain knowledge of relevant legislation and standards, including MHRA policies, EU Medical Device Directives, ISO, CQC regulations, IRR & IRMER Regulations, Electrical Installation Regulations, HTM, and HBNs. Order parts and accessories, and ensure the safe use of medical devices, test equipment, and tools.
