Purpose
The Corporate Communications Snr Specialist ESG EMEA will develop innovative and impactful ESG communications content and campaigns to further strengthen Boston Scientific’s reputation as a leading healthcare company in the region. This person will collaborate closely with internal partners in marketing, sales, market access and global corporate communications, as well as manage external creative agencies to deliver real business results and elevate the profile of the company in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA). This role reports to the EMEA Corporate Communications Snr. Manager and is based at one of our main European offices.
Key responsibilities
- Develop, plan, and drive execution of ESG corporate communications plans to support regional business objectives in ESG, through media, social, leadership and employee communications, aligned with global & regional communications strategies.
- With a deep knowledge of the corporate story, ensure consistency of brand and message across channels and spokespeople on ESG topics.
- Source, create, edit and publish compelling stories about Boston Scientific’s ESG journey, connecting it to our purpose, values and people through internal and external channels.
- As a business partner, work closely with stakeholders to understand the business and provide strategic counsel as needed to protect and strengthen the company’s reputation.
- Proactively manage schedule of EMEA communications activities and organise work and input of others – e.g. agencies, volunteers and project support.
- Using a data driven approach, evaluate impact of ESG communications activities and proactively use insights to improve future campaigns / strengthen internal partnerships.
- Manage ESG Comms EMEA budget.
- Manage comms vendors to ensure consistency, quality, value and innovation in their approach.
- As a member of the corporate communications team, coach internal partners and junior team members, e.g. intern, as needs arise.
- Champion innovation and continuous improvement; leading team and process improvement projects as part of EMEA Corp Comms team.
Skills & experience required
- Excellent written, oral and visual communication skills required.
- Degree in communications or related discipline.
- Fluency in English essential, and in one other EMEA language highly desirable.
- Practical experience of developing ESG communications, particularly on environmental sustainability topics.
- Broad experience of managing complex communications environment essential, ideally with some pan-European/regional or international experience.
- Experience of healthcare industry preferred from either agency or corporate setting (e.g. MedTech, pharma, hospital, PR agency specializing in health).
- Highly organized with excellent attention to detail.
- Demonstrated success at working under deadlines with excellent follow-through skills.
- 20-30% travel is anticipated with this role, mainly within European region to major congresses and Boston Scientific offices.
- Work mode is "hybrid" - must be able to get into the offices 2-3 days per week.
