Thinktank Video Productions Manchester is currently looking for a Freelance Video Editor to work alongside its in-house production team. Our editing team is run by an RTV award-winning craft editor who has worked on many broadcast television productions, including documentaries, TV series, and TV adverts. We are always on the lookout for individuals to fill our freelance video editor job roles as we have a diverse and established local and international client base. This role is particularly suitable for individuals who are good at editing corporate video productions, especially in sectors such as Healthcare, The NHS, Manufacturing, Education, Public Sector, Charity, Finance, and Technology.
From time to time, Thinktank has exceptionally busy periods that require freelance video editors as part of its crew. In addition to our well-established in-house video editing capabilities, we generally employ freelance video editors to make films, mostly for our corporate video production clients. You may be working with a team or under your own initiative as a video editor, depending on your skills and expertise. For editors working remotely, we expect that you have internet access and own your own editing suite. Our corporate productions are mainly edited using Adobe Premiere Pro; however, expertise in Premiere and/or DaVinci Resolve is what we are looking for.
The Successful Applicant:
- You should have a good knowledge of Video Editing and a full understanding of editing corporate videos.
- An understanding and proven experience using Adobe Premiere Pro and/or DaVinci Resolve is an advantage.
- You should be proficient in managing multiple projects and able to follow production workflows.
Planning and Organising:
We expect all of our staff to have good organisational skills and a reasonable sense of urgency to adhere to meetings, timescales, and deadlines. Each film we make needs good planning, plus the flexibility to adapt to ever-changing environments, as expected when making corporate video productions.
If you are involved in editing any sensitive materials, including footage involving vulnerable adults or children, or working on projects involving settings like the NHS or hospitals, care homes, or similar settings, we would expect you to have valid DBS clearance and be willing to undergo any further security checks, as appropriate for the work involved.
Problem Solving and Decision Making:
Occasionally, projects involve unexpected events or circumstances. We work with individuals who have the capacity and capabilities to think on their feet and make common-sense adjustments to their working day and/or environment to successfully fulfil filming duties.
People Skills & Teamwork:
It’s essential that we treat clients, members of the public, and colleagues with respect and dignity. Thinktank promotes working in a positive way and has zero tolerance for discriminatory behaviours. If things are stressful during filming, we expect our freelance crew to remain calm, respectful, and dignified. Thinktank has a zero tolerance for bullying, harassment, or any kind of threatening behaviour, and our freelance crew are expected to behave appropriately, whatever the situation.
Expertise & Skills:
- You will have proven ability to demonstrate that you can work independently and have a basic understanding of how to use and work with media formats from a variety of cameras and sources.
- You should also be competent at editing Social Media Video Content for Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, YouTube, and Vimeo, including working with formats such as 1:1 square and 9:16 portrait.
- Experience working with Open and Closed Captions within Adobe Premiere would be a distinct advantage.
Qualifications & CV - Necessary for Working as a Video Editor:
Any references to Broadcast Television work or Feature Film work within your CV should be able to be validated through IMDB's database. Although formal qualifications may demonstrate a technical understanding of Video Editing, you will be expected to provide evidence of previous project work within your CV.
How to Apply for the Freelancer Video Editor Job Role:
Apply online here, attaching your CV along with a covering note. Please state within your application your daily and weekly rate for video editing. Thinktank will not consider any application below the UK Living Wage rate. Applications for home-based workers (remote working) are actively encouraged. For any suppliers who are VAT registered or providing services through a Limited Company, you should state the legal name of the company, your VAT Number, and your Company Number.
We treat information with the utmost confidentiality at Thinktank Video Productions and never share details of any employee or freelancer unless we receive a valid request from a client—for example, for Safeguarding or National Security reasons.
