We are looking for a Risk Consultant based in the London area to provide invaluable risk engineering expertise to Allianz Commercial and its customers, with a particular focus on civil and structural engineering as well as energy projects related to conventional and emerging technologies. Additional experience in the construction and commissioning of heavy manufacturing industries would be an advantage.
Your Team
Our Allianz Risk Consulting (ARC) team is made up of experienced engineers from a wide range of technical and scientific disciplines. The team provides a flexible range of risk consulting services, from natural hazards, fire safety, and human and organizational risk factors to in-depth analysis of industry operations, and financial exposures, across all industry sectors and risks.
The Impact You Will Have
As a Risk Engineer, you will work closely with underwriting teams across Lines of Business, claims, distribution and communications to service assigned accounts and projects. You will actively support the growth of our broader Natural Resources and Construction portfolio such as a range of construction projects in the building and infrastructure space, as well as utilize expertise in construction technologies and methodologies in other industry segments such as renewable energy projects.
Some of your specific responsibilities could include:
- Conducting thorough surveys of client operations and projects, identifying hazards and vulnerabilities and providing recommendations for risk mitigation.
- Staying updated with industry trends, particularly in the areas of supply chain, new construction methods, adoption of new technology in construction, and sustainable materials such as low carbon concrete and green steel.
- Enhancing technical skills to support our Natural Resources and Construction portfolio.
- Preparing comprehensive reports and documentation on risk engineering.
- Conducting pre and post-loss desktop reviews and assessments for underwriting purposes, working side by side with underwriting colleagues as an enabler of the business by assisting in risk selection and retention.
- Analyzing data to assess client risk profiles and provide reports and recommendations.
- Managing allocation of surveys to third-party service providers.
- Supporting technical training and other development initiatives within the global ARC team.
What You’ll Bring to the Role:
We are looking for an engineer with 3 to 5 years’ experience in the construction and heavy manufacturing industry, with a particular expertise in heavy civils and structural engineering. Ideally you have at least a bachelor's degree in civil engineering, and a professional Engineering licence would be a plus. You bring some experience in risk engineering within insurance. Strong knowledge and expertise in risk assessment, particularly in heavy Civils, tunnelling, infrastructure and building construction projects. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to do so effectively with both internal and external clients. Ability to analyze complex data and provide actionable recommendations. Familiarity with industry regulations and best practices. Willingness to continuously learn and stay updated with industry advancements. Fluency in English is a must, and any additional languages would be an advantage.
