The Role

As a Network Surveyor you will work in our Surveying team & report into our Senior Network Surveyor. In addition, you will also be collaborating with our Network Planning Teams & our construction teams. Your role will be to support the Geographic Information System (GIS) by recording the availability and suitability of utilising 3rd party infrastructure as well as providing new build installation documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct on-the-ground surveys to verify the planning phase and identify the most cost-effective and unobtrusive installation methods.
  • Perform duct and chamber inspections to assess feasibility for network use.
  • Survey third-party utility infrastructure and validate network designs, reporting any potential risks that could delay project rollout.
  • Conduct thorough site assessments to evaluate current network conditions and identify areas for improvement or maintenance.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Work closely with project managers, engineers, and service delivery teams to support customer needs and project timescales.
  • Maintain regular communication with office staff and team leaders to provide updates on survey progress and findings.
  • Deliver accurate survey information, results, and recommendations to the team leader.
  • Supervise and report on contractor surveys when required, providing full TRR intrusive survey support.

Health & Safety Compliance

  • Adhere to all Health & Safety and Highways guidelines for safe roadside and pathway working.
  • Ensure proper use of safety equipment and follow procedures in line with company policies and legal requirements.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of Street Works considerations and regulations.

Data Collection & Reporting

  • Utilise specialised surveying equipment and software to collect and analyse data accurately.
  • Develop comprehensive survey reports, including findings, recommendations, and proposed solutions for network enhancements.
  • Evaluate geographical and environmental factors that may impact network performance and installation.

Requirements

  • Fibre Network design, construction and/or installation.
  • Overhead and underground knowledge of network usage essential.
  • FTTP service delivery experience within telecoms industry.
  • Network Survey experience.
  • Experience with operating mobile devices (tablets).
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work with a wide range of systems.
  • Knowledge of GIS and Vetro an advantage but not essential as full training will be given.
  • Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft packages including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Organised, professional and proactive approach to work.
  • Ability to work alone as well as in a strong team environment.
  • A high level of diplomacy and a customer focused approach to tasks.
  • Excellent time-management skills.
  • Flexible approach and positive attitude to work.
  • Reasonable fitness level - ability to walk and stand for extended periods outdoors in all weather conditions.

Qualifications

  • NRSWA Operative Unit 2 qualification.
  • SA001 SA002 BT Accreditation Underground Safety.

Salary: Β£27,000 - Β£30,000 per annum, depending on experience.
