About the role: This role will be known internally as Executive Officer. The University of Bath is seeking to appoint a Planning and Project Manager (internally titled Executive Officer) within the Advancement Office. This position will play an important role in contributing to the ambitious plans for alumni and supporter engagement and philanthropy at Bath, working within a supportive, friendly, and dedicated team.

The Executive Officer has three key areas of responsibility:

  • Project and programme management: oversee projects across the department to ensure quality delivery and cohesiveness. The Executive Officer will independently manage projects themselves and will monitor compliance and effective risk management across all projects.
  • Governance: deliver effective governance for key boards and committees.
  • Recruitment and on-boarding: support Advancement hiring managers with excellent end to end recruitment processes, helping us to attract brilliant candidates. The Executive Officer will coordinate comprehensive inductions for new starters so that they are equipped to succeed.

The post-holder will work in various areas of the Advancement Office. It’s an exciting, diverse role with plenty of opportunities to apply skills and experience.

About the Advancement Office: The Advancement Office is responsible for building long-term, impactful relationships with the University’s alumni, friends and supporters. We support a network of over 150,000 University of Bath alumni across 170 countries, as well as our wider community of supporters who generously give their time, expertise, and philanthropy to the University. Philanthropy is one of the main aspects of our work and donations are vital. They transform students’ lives through removing barriers to education, and advance important research in areas such as sustainability, health, and wellbeing, and digital. We are pleased that 100% of every donation goes to the people and projects for which it is intended.

Beyond Philanthropy, we have an active programme of activity to engage our community of alumni and supporters, helping keep them informed of the latest University news and events, providing unique benefits and services, and connecting business contacts or reuniting classmates.   • Excels at project management: you will be skilled at managing small and diverse projects and will upskill colleagues to build a culture of cohesive and high quality and agile project management in the Advancement Office.
  • Is highly organised and able to adapt quickly to changing priorities.
  • Can assist colleagues and partners at all levels, collaborating to resolve issues with project delivery.
  • Has brilliant interpersonal skills: you will provide effective line management for your team, motivating and equipping them to fulfil their potential. You will develop strong working relationships with various collaborators and partners and use these connections to inspire change and achieve success.
