The University of Leicester is seeking a dedicated and experienced Deputy Team Manager to join our Campus Services within the Division of Estates and Campus Services. This leadership role involves ensuring the effective day-to-day delivery of security services across campus, acting as a deputy for the Team Manager when necessary.
Responsibilities include overseeing Control Room operations, supporting team performance, and maintaining systems and processes that meet high standards of efficiency, customer service, and legislative compliance, such as with the Data Protection Act. In this varied role, you will help plan and deliver security initiatives, including student engagement events like Open Days and Welcome Week. You will support the recruitment, training, and development of security staff, and maintain operational readiness by managing equipment, fault reporting, and system functionality.

You will be an experienced, organized individual with a background in security services or a related field, preferably with supervisory experience in a control room or operational setting. A full manual UK driving licence is essential, and you must hold or be willing to obtain a current SIA CCTV Operator Licence. Your ability to coach others, manage competing demands, and contribute to a high-performing team will be crucial.
Strong communication skills, the ability to respond calmly under pressure, and a proactive approach to service delivery are important. You should value teamwork, understand confidentiality, and be flexible to work across shift patterns covering 24/7 operations.
