We are currently looking for a talented person to join the Credit Rating Agencies (CRA) Supervision team within the Capital Markets Department. The team is responsible for the supervision of UK regulated credit rating agencies and plays a key role in ensuring investors have reliable information on the creditworthiness of issuers.
Role Responsibilities
- Manage the FCA’s supervisory relationship with individual credit rating agencies, driving engagement to influence conduct behaviour.
- Drive, deliver and/or support the delivery of projects within the supervision strategy to mitigate or reduce harm to consumers and enhance market integrity.
- Exercise expert judgement to reduce and mitigate risks of harm emanating from the credit ratings business model and strategy.
- Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders, including at a senior level.
- Present and share knowledge with colleagues, including the wider Capital Markets Department.
- Collaborate with the Capital Markets Department, Benchmarks Supervision and FCA colleagues across policy, competition, authorisations, technology, resilience and enforcement.
Minimum Qualifications
- Experience working in a regulatory and/or financial services organisation such as a credit rating agency, commercial or investment bank, asset management, law firm or other regulatory body.
- Analytical experience using a variety of qualitative and quantitative information to form judgements that balance multiple factors.
Essential Qualifications
- Understanding of credit ratings, the rating process and potential risks posed by CRAs.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present clear, well‑reasoned arguments.
- Initiative to make informed and timely decisions, cutting through complexity and escalating issues appropriately.
- Proven ability to balance and manage competing priorities, often under conditions beyond your control.
- Flexible approach to change and the ability to adapt working styles accordingly.
- Experience of successful teamwork and a proactive willingness to support colleagues.
